Clyde Bergemann Doncaster (CBD), also known as Clyde Bergemann Materials Handling Ltd is a market leader in ash handling solutions dedicated to the Power Generation Industry and Industrial markets such as Petrochemical, Pulp & Paper, and Waste to Energy, Biomass, Marine, Minerals and Mining.

The company has recently supplied a number of replacement electrostatic precipitators to Drax Power Station for capturing fly ash, also known as “pulverised fuel ash”, a coal combustion product that is composed of the particulates (fine particles of burned fuel) that are driven out of coal-fired boilers together with the flue gases. As part of that supply, CBD were also contracted to provide instruments for level alarm duties in the precipitators. For this purpose, CBD purchased Drexelbrook Intellipoint RF Admittance point level probes from ABLE Instruments & Controls Ltd.

RF Admittance is a tried and tested solution to the fly ash level measurement application and has been an industry standard for coal fired power stations. Remote electronics negate potential problems associated with this harsh environment and Drexelbrook’s proven Cote-Shield technology ignores coating build-up on the probe.
