AMETEK Drexelbrook Universal V CM Water Cut Monitor

Capacitance‑Measured Water Cut with Dual‑Compensated Accuracy and Low‑Maintenance Performance

ABLE Instruments are AMETEK Drexelbrook’s Exclusive Representative for Sales and Service in the UK and Ireland, including the Universal V CM Water Cut Monitor. The Universal V CM is a highly reliable capacitive measurement instrument used to determine water content accurately in oil, the BS&W (basic sediment & water) fraction. Featuring RF admittance technology with both temperature and density compensation built in, it delivers consistent measurements across varying process conditions.

Originally calibrated at the factory based on pipe size and fluid density, the Universal V CM requires only a simple one‑point field validation. Configuration can be performed via its built‑in LCD display and keypad, or remotely over the two‑wire loop using HRTWin or STExplorer software. Its capacitive probe is equipped with the patented Cote‑Shield™ design and Perm‑A‑Seal sensing element, reducing fouling and eliminating routine maintenance requirements.

Features:

  • RF admittance capacitance sensor offering precise water‑in‑oil measurement (0–50 % light oil; up to 0–80 % heavy oil)
  • Full temperature and density compensation ensures consistent water cut readings in changing conditions
  • Low-maintenance probe design featuring Cote‑Shield™ and Perm‑A‑Seal for fouling resistance
  • Pre‑calibrated from factory, requiring only one‑point field validation
  • Flexible configuration options: local LCD/keypad and remote capability via two‑wire loop with HRTWin or STExplorer
  • Robust process range: up to approximately 103 bar / 1,500 psi and 232 °C / 450 °F (probe-dependent)
  • Intrinsically safe and explosion‑proof approvals: FM, FMc, ATEX, IECEx, Class I Div 1 / Zone 0 certified
  • Mounting versatility: available in insertion or spool‑piece styles to suit many pipe sizes

Designed for tough industrial environments, the Universal V CM supports both insertion and spool‑piece mounting, suitable for a wide variety of pipe sizes. It operates reliably across high pressures (up to approximately 103 bar / 1,500 psi) and temperatures (up to 232 °C / 450 °F), depending on probe configuration. It is approved for hazardous areas with FM, FMc, ATEX and IECEx (Class I Div 1 / Zone 0).
