This Micronics Portaflow 333 Portable Ultrasonic Clamp-on Heat Meter with ‘A’ and ‘B’ type transducers (13-2000mm OD) and standard IP54 rating comes with an improved data logger and is designed to comply with EN1434 section 6. The temperature sensors included within this package are clamp-on PT100 Class B 4 wire with a 0°C-200°C range (32°F – 392°F), a resolution of 0.1°C (0.18°F) and the minimum delta T is 0.3°C IP54 with an IP68 option. The PF333 offers quick and accurate bi-directional flow and energy measurement from outside the pipe with its easy-to-follow menu and easy installation and setup. This compact, rugged and reliable portable clamp-on heat meter has been designed to provide sustained performance in industrial environments and is suitable for industries such as Building Services and Energy Management and for HVAC / energy system audits. The Portaflow 333 works as a transit time ultrasonic flow meter and is designed to work with clamp-on transducers to provide accurate measurement of liquid flowing within a closed pipe without the need for any mechanical parts to be inserted through the pipe wall.
Measurement Principle: Micronics meters use a cross-correlation transit time algorithm to provide accurate flow measurements. An ultrasonic beam of a given frequency is generated and applied to the transducer crystals. This transmission goes first from the downstream transducer to the upstream transducer as shown in the upper half of Figure 1 (below). The transmission is then made in the reverse direction, being sent from the upstream transducer to the downstream transducer as shown in the lower half of Figure 1. The speed at which the ultrasound is transmitted through the liquid is increased slightly by the velocity of the liquid through the pipe. The subsequent time difference T1-T2 is directly proportional to the liquid flow velocity.
