ABLE Instruments are the official representative for Magnetrol within the UK, offering a full range of thermal dispersion instrumentation, including the Thermatel TD1/TD2 Flow Switches and the Thermatel TA2 Thermal Mass Flow Meter.

The Thermatel TD1 and TD2 switches are widely used to detect flow in both gases and liquids. The TD1 is a compact 24 VDC unit with integral electronics and a built-in DPDT relay, while the TD2 offers more advanced functionality with AC or DC power options, remote or integral electronics, LED indication, time delay, and mA output for diagnostics and trending. These switches are particularly valued for pump protection applications, where their proven low-flow detection capabilities help prevent dry running. The unique spherical tip sensor design ensures exceptional sensitivity and accuracy at low velocities.

ABLE also offer the Thermatel TA2, a thermal mass flow meter designed for continuous gas flow measurement. The TA2 provides direct mass flow output with high sensitivity at low flow rates, wide turndown, and low maintenance due to its non-clogging, no-moving-parts design. It features in-field calibration verification, totalisers, and approvals for hazardous area installation, making it ideal for monitoring compressed air, natural gas, and other industrial gases.

All Magnetrol thermal dispersion devices use the same underlying technology. The sensor contains two RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) elements: one heated, one reference. As flow increases, heat is carried away from the heated element, reducing the temperature difference. This change is accurately detected and converted into a switch or flow signal depending on the model.
