Temperature Transmitters
A temperature transmitter is a device that converts a temperature sensor’s electrical signal into a standardised output signal for monitoring and controlling temperatures in industrial processes. The output signal is usually a 4-20 mA or 0-10 V signal. To ensure accuracy a temperature transmitter is capable of isolating, amplifying, linearizing and filtering noise from the temperature sensor signal.
When choosing a temperature transmitter, it is important to consider things like:
- Mounting location: Whether it will be head-mounted, outdoors, or in a hazardous location
- Signal integrity: Whether a measurement error could be costly
- Programmability: Whether set-points and scaling are considerations
- Smart capabilities: Whether the transmitter can send alerts or provide diagnostic information
