ISO 5167-5 for Cone Meters Released

ISO have now released a standard for cone meters, Measurement of fluid flow by means of pressure – Part 5: Cone meters. The major advantage of this standard to the industry is that it harmonises how cone meters are to be used and will help negate false claims made by certain manufacturers.

ISO 5167-5 specifies the geometry and method of use (installation and operating conditions) of cone meters when they are inserted in a conduit running full to determine the flow rate of the fluid flowing therein.

To explain the effect of the new document, our Principal Company McCrometer has prepared a presentation which describes the standard and how it should be applied. It includes:

– The upstream and downstream pipe runs required and how they compare to the McCrometer standard
– Calibration requirements compliant with the new standard
– Application of the standard to uncalibrated meters
