125-225mm Micronics U1000MKII-WM-HM Wall Mount Ultrasonic Clamp-On Energy Meter
The Micronics ‘Ultraflo’ U1000MKII-WM-HM Wall Mount Ultrasonic Clamp-On Energy Meter (up to 8” pipe size – 125-225mm OD / 105-215mm ID) is suitable for water and glycol applications and designed to comply with EN1434 section 6. This USM comes with a separate wall mounted keyboard and display. The U1000MKII-WM-HM is a great value alternative to traditional inline heat / flow meters, for use in energy management and billing applications in domestic and commercial, district or shared heating / cooling systems. The U1000MKII-HM uses ultrasound to measure flow rate and PT100 temperature sensors (3 meter length, pair) to measure flow and return temperatures. This clamp-on energy meter also displays energy rate and totalised energy with pulse output and communication options so it can be used as a standalone flow meter or as an integral part of Automatic Monitoring and Targeting (aM&T) and BEM systems. Furthermore, the U1000MKII-WM-HM fixed ultrasonic flow meter is easy to install and no specialist skills or tools are required. Simply connect the power and enter the pipe inside diameter, adjust the sensors then clamp-on to the pipe.
Measurement Principle: Micronics meters use a cross-correlation transit time algorithm to provide accurate flow measurements. An ultrasonic beam of a given frequency is generated and applied to the transducer crystals. This transmission goes first from the downstream transducer to the upstream transducer as shown in the upper half of Figure 1 (below). The transmission is then made in the reverse direction, being sent from the upstream transducer to the downstream transducer as shown in the lower half of Figure 1. The speed at which the ultrasound is transmitted through the liquid is increased slightly by the velocity of the liquid through the pipe. The subsequent time difference T1-T2 is directly proportional to the liquid flow velocity.
