Magnetrol Genesis Model ED1/ED2 Multiphase Level Detector
ABLE Instruments are Magnetrol’s Exclusive Representative for Sales and Service in the UK and Ireland, including Magnetrol Genesis Model ED1/ED2 Multiphase Level Detector, an advanced, Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR)-based, 24 VDC level detector, engineered to deliver accurate multiple interface level measurements in various industrial applications. Designed by Magnetrol’s progressive engineering team, this cutting-edge device provides detailed profiles of vessel interfaces, surpassing traditional technologies in terms of performance and precision.
Utilising patented “Top-Down” and “Bottom-Up” signal technology, along with sophisticated detection algorithms, the Genesis detector can operate across a wide range of applications, such as defining interfaces in separator vessels (e.g., sand-water-emulsion-oil-gas). Its ability to quantify the emulsion layer makes it ideal for complex environments, such as downstream Oil & Gas processes, where it competes with nucleonic devices while offering a more cost-effective solution.

Genesis supports industry standards like Field Device Integration (FDI) and Enhanced DD (EDDL), enabling seamless integration with tools such as PACTware, AMS Device Manager, and HART Field Communicators. The system’s ease of wiring, configuration, and LCD display makes it user-friendly, while its compatibility with both FDI and DTM standards provides enhanced configuration and diagnostics.
The Genesis Multiphase Detector comes in two models. The Model ED1, the full-featured version, includes four analogue outputs and advanced algorithms for tackling complex interface applications. It’s specifically designed for Oil & Gas markets. The Model ED2, while more streamlined, accommodates up to four analogue outputs and utilises many of the ED1’s core algorithms, providing flexibility for various applications. Both models offer exceptional performance and versatility across multiple industries.
