Mid-West Model 124 Piston Type Differential Pressure Gauge, 5 – 400 PSID
ABLE Instruments are Mid-West Instrument’s Official Representative for Sales and Service in the UK and Ireland, including the Model 124 Piston Type Differential Pressure Gauge (0-4 to 0-400 PSID or equivalent). The Model 124 Piston Type Differential Pressure Gauge is designed for high-pressure systems, accommodating working pressures up to 10,000 PSI. Engineered for accuracy and versatility, this gauge offers a full-scale accuracy of ±3/2/3% and differential pressure dial scales ranging from 0-5 PSID to 0-400 PSID. The Model 124 is ideal for demanding differential pressure (DP) applications, ensuring precise measurements even under extreme conditions.
Key features of the Model 124 include a rugged piston type sensing element encased in a glass-reinforced thermoplastic dial case, which is panel mountable. An anodized aluminium dial case option is available for those seeking additional durability. The gauge is designed to withstand harsh environments, offering weather and corrosion resistance along with a shatter-resistant lens. It also features over-range protection for both high and low pressures, enhancing its safety and longevity. A five-year warranty underscores the product’s reliability.
The Model 124 is available in various dial sizes, including 2-1/2”, 3-1/2”, 4-1/2”, and 6” diameters, with differential full-scale ascending accuracy of ±3/2/3% (ASME B40.1 Grade B). The dial scale ranges from 0-5 PSID to 0-400 PSID (0-0.35 to 0-27 bar), with multiple scale options such as Bar, Mbar, kPa, Kg/Cm2, and dual scales. The gauge operates effectively within temperatures of -40°F to +200°F (-40°C to +93°C) and supports working pressures up to 10,000 PSIG (689 Bar), with a proof pressure of 20,000 PSI. Constructed from 316/316L stainless steel, the internal components include a 316 stainless steel piston and a ceramic magnet.
Features:
- Robust piston-type design sensing element
- Panel-mountable dial case made of glass-reinforced thermoplastic (optional anodized aluminum dial case available; contact sales for details)
- Resistant to weather and corrosion
- Shatter-resistant lens
- Over-range protection for both high-over-low and low-over-high conditions
- Terminal strip switch and transmitter options

Common applications for the Model 124 include subsea and deep well operations, high system pressure filter and strainer monitoring, compressed air systems, hydraulic systems, refrigerant monitoring, pump performance testing, and heat exchanger pressure drop monitoring. The terminal strip switch and transmitter options simplify electrical installation, making the Model 124 a versatile and user-friendly choice for high-pressure differential pressure monitoring.
What are the electrical switch specifications? Mid-West Instrument switches are designed to be mechanically adjustable, allowing customers to set the switch within a specific adjustment range of the instrument. All configurations feature a ½” FNPT conduit interface. Upon customer request, Mid-West can also preset switch set points. All switches comply with EU Low Voltage and RoHS Directives and are CE marked. The Mid-West Instrument 124 differential pressure transmitter, available in both indicating and non-indicating versions, is a 2-wire loop-powered microprocessor-based transmitter that outputs a 4-20 mA signal. Utilizing a magnetic angle sensor, it detects the angle of the magnet, which moves linearly within the bore relative to the transmitter sensor. Each transmitter undergoes an individual 11-point calibration linearisation process to ensure accuracy.
These switches require no power to operate and can be equipped with one or two independently adjustable switches. The 4-20 mA transmitter output is available, with CE marking to the EMC Directive upon request. Available switch output options include:
- SPDT 3W, 0.25 Amp, 125 VAC/VDC
- SPST 60W, 3.0 Amp, 240 VAC/VDC (Normally Open)
- SPST 60W, 3.0 Amp, 240 VAC/VDC (Normally Closed)
- SPST 60W, 3.0 Amp, 240 VAC/VDC (1 Normally Open, 1 Normally Closed)
The switches and transmitter include a field-wirable terminal strip and are housed in weather-resistant NEMA 4X / IP65 electrical enclosures. Switch options are CE marked in accordance with Low Voltage and RoHS Directives.
