ABLE Instruments are the UK manufacturer of Nestec flow switches and indicators, including the 5000 Series; heavy-duty flow sensors using magnetic piston technology for robust switching and clear visual confirmation. The Nestec 5000 Series offers both flow switch and flow indicator functionality within a compact, mechanically rugged unit. These devices use a spring-loaded piston assembly actuated by fluid flow to trigger a dry contact switch or provide visual flow confirmation via a mechanical flag or sight glass.
Available with a range of wetted materials and connection types, the 5000 Series is ideal for clean water, chemicals, oils, fuels, or process fluids. For hazardous environments, ATEX flameproof versions are available, making them suitable for offshore skids, fuel systems, and industrial control panels in Zone 1 or 2 areas.

The switch element operates independently of the fluid path, making it resistant to clogging and wear. This ensures reliable flow detection with minimal maintenance over time. Options include SPST or SPDT electrical outputs, thread sizes from ¼” to 1″, and mounting flexibility for horizontal or vertical pipework.
In addition to switch-only versions, the 5000 Series is also available as a flow indicator, with a visible flow confirmation element for quick process checks, ideal where electrical output isn’t needed.
Common applications include diesel transfer, chemical injection, oil systems, pump protection, and OEM panel builds requiring ATEX or visual flow confirmation.
