Why Choose the UE Vanguard Wireless Explosion Proof Gas Detector? The Vanguard WirelessHART fixed gas detector is the ideal solution for businesses requiring a fixed combustible gas detector but without the complexity of wired installations. Its truly wireless design, combining battery power and WirelessHART communication, makes it a flexible, cost-effective choice for industrial safety. With ATEX Zone 1 approval, this explosion proof gas detector ensures compliance with safety regulations while providing reliable fixed gas detection in hazardous environments.
Typical Applications: The Vanguard WirelessHART Fixed Combustible Gas Detector is ideal for hazardous sites requiring gas detection but lacking infrastructure such as cabling, power supply, or local control cabinets. It is particularly useful in newly developed areas within refineries, power plants, gas storage facilities, pulp and paper mills, and fertiliser plants where traditional fixed detection systems would be costly and complex to install. A prime example is floating roof storage tanks, where the Vanguard can be mounted on a 2” stanchion pipe at the top of the roof, powered by its battery supply, and wirelessly connected to an Emerson Gateway, integrating seamlessly with the site’s control system. Its remote capabilities make it an excellent choice for pulp and paper mills, where hydrogen sulphide is present at various processing stages, but running additional infrastructure is impractical due to moving parts and space constraints.
Beyond industrial sites, the Vanguard excels in perimeter gas detection. Fertiliser plants, for example, require continuous monitoring for gases such as ammonia and methane, both of which pose health and environmental risks. The Vanguard provides a cost-effective remote monitoring solution, ensuring early detection to protect both site operators and the surrounding public. It is also highly suitable for applications such as well plugging, drilling abandonment, and landfill site monitoring, where traditional gas detection methods rely on periodic manual measurements. By offering continuous remote detection of gases like methane, CO₂, and eventually hydrogen, the Vanguard reduces reliance on manual inspections, improving efficiency and safety in challenging environments.
Gas detector performance testing per UL/IEC 60079-29-1 pending.
